Understanding the Individual Mandate

Understanding the Individual Mandate: "If you’ve been following the presidential primaries, commentary from political pundits, or even the nightly news, you’ve probably heard the term “individual mandate” more than once.

People have strong and different opinions about the mandate. Its supporters argue that it’s a crucial piece of the health care law—without which, the rest of the law would not work. I actually had to tell someone today who said that they wouldn't be able to afford it for her and her daughter that if she went to the state insurance exchanges when they open that she can get tax breaks for insurance. She just looked at me.
