Is the US Getting Domestic Indefinite Military Detention for Thanksgiving?

Is the US Getting Domestic Indefinite Military Detention for Thanksgiving?: "A bipartisan group of senators is poised to force through dramatic changes to how the US government handles suspected terrorists—over the objections of the White House and Senate Democratic leadership.

Legislative language that emerged from the Senate Armed Services Committee on Tuesday afternoon would mandate the automatic, indefinite military detention of noncitizens apprehended in the United States who are suspected members of Al Qaeda or associated groups. The wording, which is part of a must-pass bill to fund the military, also appears to allow the indefinite military detention of citizens and legal permanent residents. The bill would also extend restrictions on transfers of detainees from Guantánamo Bay, though only for one year...."

Majority of War On Terror Vets Say Too Much Military Force Leads To Terrorism

Majority of War On Terror Vets Say Too Much Military Force Leads To Terrorism: "According to a new Pew Research report on Iraq and Afghanistan veterans, 51% of vets believe that relying too much on military force creates more hate which leads to more terrorism.

The Pew survey of vets found, “About half of post-9/11 veterans (51%) say relying too much on military force creates hatred that leads to more terrorism, while four-in-ten endorse the opposite view: that overwhelming force is the best way to defeat terrorism. The views of the public are nearly identical: 52% say too much force leads to more terrorism, while 38% say using military force is the best approach.”

Vets also support the military’s nation building role more than the American public, “About six-in-ten post-9/11 veterans (59%) support the noncombat “nation-building” role the military has taken on in Iraq and Afghanistan. The public and pre-9/11 veterans are less enthused. Just 45% of both groups say they think this is an appropriate role for the military....""

John Hagee Says Hate is the Only Way to Save America

John Hagee Says Hate is the Only Way to Save America: "It wasn’t enough to persecute Paganism out of existence from the fourth century to the thirteenth, to launch pogrom after bloody pogrom at the Jews or crusade after crusade at the Muslims, or to exterminate people who disagreed with them from among their own religion until the Enlightenment put an end to holy wars in the name of Christ. It wasn’t enough to declare crusades and inquisitions and slaughter and oppress and torture with bloody glee for the better part of seventeen centuries.

It just wasn’t enough.

No, John Hagee wants to double down on the oppression and persecution. He expressed his feelings quite strongly in a special on the Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) called Faith Under Fire (not to be confused with the old PAX-TV show hosted by Lee Strobel).

Funny thing though. It seems it’s not “faith” that’s under fire here, but the lack of faith. But hey, the inquisition was just trying to help folks get their beliefs straightened out. In other words, don’t worry about the logic – there isn’t any. Only hate. Lots of hate...."

Um, last I knew Jesus was all about love. Apparently these people love the Old Testament more than the New Testament. And people are always pointing fingers at the Muslims. Give me a damn break. There are quite a few groups of people who say they are 'Christians' and yet act this way. There are a lot of groups in general who act this way. All of this stuff right here is why I'm a fan of Jesus, but not of His fan club.

Islam

So I had quite a long conversation with a Muslim coworker tonight and boy did I learn a whole lot of things that people in power/Christians don't want us to know. Apparently not all Muslim women wear a Hijab 24/7. Some of them only wear them while they're praying or in a Mosque. I totally didn't know this and it sort of blew my mind. I also got the Taliban explained to me a little bit. Apparently they're like a huge gang that some really smart/crazy/rich person makes out of poor and uneducated people. Which in a way makes sense because if you're in those conditions some people will do anything to get out of them and listen to pretty much anyone.

Which is why the best thing we can do for these people is to educate them and give them a chance at life where they don't have to live in poverty and be uneducated. If you haven't read my blog post Where Do We Go From Here I really encourage you to do so. It is very insightful and elaborates on some of the points I made in this post about education.

By Glenn Beck’s Own Definition The Tea Party Is A Terrorist Organization

By Glenn Beck’s Own Definition The Tea Party Is A Terrorist Organization: "Politicians are masters of the art of rhetoric, but they are often better served if they speak bluntly and honestly. Republicans are master liars and it has become so normal for them, it is difficult to know if they actually believe their own lies or are just parroting the party line. Democrats are more diplomatic and appear timid for not speaking the truth in a way the average American can understand exactly what they mean. Apparently during the debt ceiling negotiations, at least one Democrat accused the teabaggers of being terrorists for holding the economy hostage to get the spending cuts they wanted and if it is true, it was apropos to the situation and entirely accurate based on Mitch McConnell’s admission of holding the debt limit hostage. The truth is, the teabaggers have been terrorizing America since their ascendance shortly after President Obama took office..."

If you only have time to read one article today from my blog I think this one is a good pick. It makes a lot of good points that need to be said. Feel free to share or repost!

Republicans Kill The Hostage As S&P Downgrades US Debt

Republicans Kill The Hostage As S&P Downgrades US Debt: "S&P downgraded America’s debt because the Republicans have made the process of governing so dysfunctional that Washington can no longer be trusted to agree to make even the most basic decisions.

The S&P report laid out their reasoning..."

The GOP Has Become A Front Group For Tea Party Economic Terrorism

The GOP Has Become A Front Group For Tea Party Economic Terrorism: "In every country on Earth, national security is the first priority to protect and insure the government survives any onslaught from foreign invaders intent on conquering or destroying it. America is no different and in fact, spends more on defense that the next 12 countries combined to assure its citizens that the government remains intact and the country survives for centuries. There are, though, enemies within America’s borders who are plotting to take down the government and end the experiment in Democracy that has persevered for over 200 years because the current system of government does not fit the paradigm they have been dreaming of for decades. The conservative movement in America has spent untold sums of money to change the government into a corporatist enterprise where a few hundred wealthy families hold all the wealth and the rest of the population exists solely to enrich the wealthy and their corporations, and they are beginning to realize advances toward their goal of domination and control..."

Republicans Hope America Develops Stockholm Syndrome by 2012

Republicans Hope America Develops Stockholm Syndrome by 2012: "A century ago, a leader could claim to speak for the entire country and if the speaker was trustworthy, their word could be taken for the truth. In the modern era of perpetual polling and up-to-the-minute news reporting, a leader can still claim to speak for all Americans but their assertions can be checked for veracity within one news cycle or sooner if one has access to the Internet. There are some leaders in Congress who claim to speak for the American people, but if they are members of the Republican Party, it is a relatively safe bet that they are being deceitful. However, when a Republican leader in the Senate claims the American people agree with the GOP’s handling of the debt ceiling negotiations and their refusal to allow revenue increases, it is most certainly an abject lie..."

The Black Eyed Peas - Where Is The Love?

I feel the weight of the world on my shoulder
As I'm gettin' older, y'all, people gets colder
Most of us only care about money makin'
Selfishness got us followin' our wrong direction
Wrong information always shown by the media
Negative images is the main criteria
Infecting the young minds faster than bacteria
Kids wanna act like what they see in the cinema
Yo', whatever happened to the values of humanity
Whatever happened to the fairness in equality
Instead of spreading love we're spreading animosity
Lack of understanding, leading lives away from unity

Jon Stewart Speaks for All When He Asks the Tea Party WTF?

Jon Stewart Speaks for All When He Asks the Tea Party WTF?: "’ve been thinking about this issue all week, looking at the various reports coming out, the various reactions, and I’ve yet to see anything that speaks more for me as an American. Jon Stewart, as so often happens, has been left to be the voice of the American people, which is why, as Jason Easley reported here yesterday, FOX News is so anxious to discredit him. Stewart he had something to say to the Tea Party on Monday night after the debt ceiling compromise, asking a question many of us are asking in the wake of the House’s vote: “What the f*ck Tea Partiers?”..."
