The Morality of Rugged Individualism by Brian Cooney - The Book of Cletis
Very good article that Cletis posted, I had to share it because it goes along with what I believe about the GOP and Rand's philosophy.
"If the United States is supposed to uphold "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness" how can a sick or dying person without health care have these rights."
~Motivated In Ohio
"Any health care funding plan that is just, equitable, civilized and humane must - must - redistribute wealth from the richer among us to the poorer and the less fortunate. Excellent healthcare is by definition re-distributional."
~Donald Berwick

That piece by Brian Cooney really is excellent. I touched on this "rugged individualism" thing very briefly in my response to an E.J. Dionne column:

Your great blog is both soothing and interesting at the same time, how do you pull that off?
I loved that post. I hate the fact that so many people go off of what the Tea Party says even though they're a small movement when you have so many other Americans against what the Tea Party stands for. And their name I think is ironic since the original Boston Tea Party was against corporate tax cuts for the East India Company.
And thanks, I'm not sure how I pull it off. I just try and be myself.
