"How Could This Happen in America?" Why Police Are Treating Americans Like Military Threats: "Why is the armed might of the state, (necessary in waging war against foreign enemies) being applied to domestic policing of local communities and peaceful protests?
"How could this happen in America?"
"Is this still my country?"
In the past few days, those and similarly poignant Twitter posts have appealed to fundamental American values in objecting to the notorious U.C. Davis event, where police pepper-sprayed seated protesters, and to cities generally cracking down on the Occupy movement. The crackdowns have brought a military level of combativeness to what many Americans -- even those not in sympathy with the protesters -- would normally see as a police, not a military matter...."
"If the United States is supposed to uphold "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness" how can a sick or dying person without health care have these rights."

"Any health care funding plan that is just, equitable, civilized and humane must - must - redistribute wealth from the richer among us to the poorer and the less fortunate. Excellent healthcare is by definition re-distributional."

Child Rape, Penn State and the Catholic Church: Is Religion Especially Bad?
Child Rape, Penn State and the Catholic Church: Is Religion Especially Bad?: "The child rape scandal at Penn State raises inevitable comparisons with the Catholic Church. Does religion make these kinds of abuses worse?
can't be the only person who heard about the Penn State child rape scandal and thought, "Holy crap -- it's just like the Catholic Church." The abuse of power by a trusted authority figure; the coverup by people in authority; the unwillingness of witnesses to speak out; the grotesque, morally bankrupt defenses of a beloved institution by its followers... all of it is depressingly familiar.
And I can't be the only critic of religion who's been wondering, "Hmm. If Penn State has been acting like the Catholic Church... then did the Catholic Church child rape scandal actually have anything to do with religion?"..."

The Problem For The GOP Is That No Amount Of Money Or Smears Can Stop OWS
The Problem For The GOP Is That No Amount Of Money Or Smears Can Stop OWS: "In any conflict, war, or battle it is crucial to know who the enemy is and what their strengths and weaknesses are to ensure victory. Political observers and the Occupy movement understand that Republicans, Wall Street, and wealthy corporations are the enemy in the class war being waged against 99 percent of Americans, and why the movement poses a significant threat to Wall Street. Now, there is unassailable proof that the forces arrayed against the American people are willing to go to any lengths to dominate political and public policy that will guarantee economic disaster for this country and its citizens for a generation. A memo from a lobbying firm to the American Bankers Association (ABA) has surfaced that outlines plans to discredit the Occupy movement in key battleground states by doing, among other things, “opposition research” on the Occupy movement to help construct “negative narratives” about Occupy protesters and the politicians who support them. Republicans can no longer claim they are not waging war on behalf of the financial industry because besides the lobbyists memo, Michael Bloomberg stated, “We need to defend Wall Street. The banks deserve support;” the memo verifies his claim...."

NYPD ‘Loses’ the Occupy Wall Street Wikileaks Truck
NYPD ‘Loses’ the Occupy Wall Street Wikileaks Truck: "Life can be difficult when your vehicle has a huge Wikileaks logo and "Top Secret Mobile Collection Unit" emblazoned on the side. An artist's Wikileaks-themed U-Haul truck is missing after being confiscated by the NYPD.
The Wikileaks truck has been a fixture at Manhattan's Occupy Wall Street protest since day one, provoking puzzled reactions from media, cops and tourists alike. Unfortunately, Julian Assange hasn't been secretly crashing in the flatbed; it's a project by New York-based artist/activist Clark Stoeckley. Stoeckley says he has no connection to the Wikileaks folks. He's been driving the thing around the country since March, filming his exploits, and for most of the past two months it's been parked down at Zuccotti Park, where it sheltered him and fellow occupiers....."

Occupy Protesters Urge Obama To Stand Up Against Police Brutality
Occupy Protesters Urge Obama To Stand Up Against Police Brutality: "At his speech in New Hampshire today, Occupy Wall Street protesters interrupted the president and urged him to take a stand against police brutality.
The protesters chanted, “Mr. President, over 4000 peaceful protesters have been arrested. While bankers continue to destroy the American economy,” they were then interrupted by Obama supporters, chanting the president’s name. Obama got control of the room before things went too crazy, and said, “Listen, I’m going to be talking about a whole range of things today, and I appreciate you guys making your point. Let me go ahead and make mine. I’ll listen to you. You listen to me.”
In a written statement the protesters said, “Over 4000 peaceful protesters have been arrested. While bankers continue to destroy the American economy. You must stop the assault on our 1st amendment rights. Your silence sends a message that police brutality is acceptable. Banks got bailed out. We got sold out.”..."
I do believe that our political leaders (for the most part) should stay out of the OWS movement. But the fact that nothing has been said about the police brutality is pretty pathetic. We condemn other nations for it, and now we're doing it ourselves. Egypt has also justified their police brutality because they see how our police is treating the OWS protestors.
If you want to see how hypocritical our officials are being, watch this video:

How Egypt Justifies Its Brutal Crackdown: Occupy Wall Street
How Egypt Justifies Its Brutal Crackdown: Occupy Wall Street: "Two people were killed in Cairo and Alexandria this weekend as Egyptian activists took the streets to protest the military's attempts to maintain its grip on power. And guess how the state is justifying its deadly crackdown.
