"If the United States is supposed to uphold "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness" how can a sick or dying person without health care have these rights."
~Motivated In Ohio
"Any health care funding plan that is just, equitable, civilized and humane must - must - redistribute wealth from the richer among us to the poorer and the less fortunate. Excellent healthcare is by definition re-distributional."

Yeah, I wish whoever made this video would make more of them.
It's sad that it has taken a direct assault on public worker unions for many people to see what the right has been trying to do for decades.
My brother in law is a life long conservative who works for the municipal water treatment department, and he has finally seen the attack come to his backyard. He told me that other city workers have had people shout obscenities at them, had things thrown at them, and they have now been told they have to take a class on how to interact with the public in these situations.
This is just the beginning unless we speak up as loudly as they are. You cannot fix the economy by further damaging the working class. Government and municipal positions represent over 5 million jobs. When you talk about cutting the size of government, you are talking about adding more people to the unemployment rolls. How does that help?
When you talk about cutting their benefits, you reduce their expendable income, which means less money gets spent on goods and services. This results in layoffs, adding people to the unemployment rolls. How does this help?
If the top 1% makes more than the bottom 60% of the nation, why do conservatives complain that 50% of the nation pays 90% of the income taxes? Sounds like they should be thankful it is spread out that way.
The income disparity in this nations is driving us toward a cliff that no bailout will fix, that no stimulus will rebuild.
It is up to us to call on progressive leaders to stop sitting on their hands and get the message out there. If conservatives can win elections by shouting nonsense, what can we do if we shout the truth?
Thanks for what you do here, and I would be pleased do be a partner with you in this mission.
Forgive my typo "do" = "to"
That's what the GOP and the rich want you to think about taxes. The bottom 90% actually bear a higher tax burden than the rest of them do. You should check out my post on it and read the article if you get a chance:

That's really sad about your brother. It's hard to believe that our country is turning into a place that blames unions for helping our communities. And our income disparity is ranking among third world countries. The Ed Show did a piece on it last week I believe. It's pretty crazy.
People are starting to see what the GOP is doing when they started attacking unions and medicare but we need more people to be aware of it and start rising up against all of this crap.
If you get a chance you should check out Motivated in Ohio's blog, The Book of Cletis and The Left Side of the Gorge blogs. I have links to them at the bottom of my page. They're also coming together to help spread the word about what is going on in this country.
