Tell Democrats to Stand Up for Progressive Principles

DEAR FELLOW DEMOCRATS:

Democrats get six seats on the committee charged with cutting our deficit. And those Democrats should speak with one voice when it comes to these three progressive principles.

1. MEDICARE
We believe that any solution that ends Medicare as we know it–by slashing benefits or turning it into a voucher program–is no solution at all, and we will oppose it.

2. SOCIAL SECURITY
We believe that Social Security is a promise that must be kept. It provides economic security to millions of vulnerable Americans, did not cause the budget problem, and should not be cut as part of the solution.

3. SHARED SACRIFICE
We believe that we all must share the sacrifice–and that includes big corporations and the wealthy.

Democrats believe in fiscal responsibility. But with Republicans attempting to ram their extreme agenda through by force, I urge you to stand firm in support of these uniting principles.

Real Time With Bill Maher: Overtime - Episode #222 (HBO)

I do not like the woman in the red dress. Or the guy with the grey suit and glasses. Corporations do not create jobs out of thin air! They create jobs when there's high demand dammit! You need to go back to friggin high school and take an economics class and then maybe you'll understand this!

Obama Makes Worst Possible Deal

This teenager knows more about our economy than most adults do. These people have no soul to be doing stuff like this. They should be ashamed of themselves. I wonder how they sleep at night.

My Debt Ceiling Message to President Obama

Sen. Coburn: Gang Of Six Budget Cuts Will Only Hurt Those ‘Sucking Off’ Programs

Sen. Coburn: Gang Of Six Budget Cuts Will Only Hurt Those ‘Sucking Off’ Programs: "This week, the so-called Gang of Six — composed of Sens. Tom Coburn (R-OK), Saxby Chambliss (R-GA), Mark Warner (D-VA), Dick Durbin (D-IL), Mike Crapo (R-ID), and Kent Conrad (D-ND) — released the outline of a plan that would reduce deficits by about $3.7 trillion over the next 10 years, with about $3 trillion of..."
